El joven tenista español Carlos Alcaraz, conquistó el Gran Slam de Roland Garros por primera vez en su carrera, firmando una épica remontada en cinco sets sobre el alemán Alexander Zverev (3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 1-6 y 2-6) en la final disputada sobre la mítica pista de la Philippe Chartier en París. En un partido que duró más de cuatro horas para definir al nuevo monarca de la tierra batida parisina, luego del abandono de Novak Djokovic por lesión, Alcaraz se vio abajo por dos sets a uno, una desventaja que ningún tenista había remontado en una final de Grand Slam para proclamarse campeón, hasta el día de hoy que el español lo consiguió.
Este éxito le permitirá a Carlos Alcaraz subir en la próxima clasificación ATP hasta el número 2, solo superado por el italiano Jannik Sinner (nuevo número 1) y adelantando al serbio Novak Djokovic, campeón el año pasado en la tierra batida de París y que abandonó por lesión esta vez antes de los cuartos de final.
